Self-sufficiency 200% Project "Yumechikara" Cultivation Research Program
2021.09.20Bread wheat is widely used in Japan, but most of it is imported. In this program, we are engaged in cultivation research on the theme of domestically produced wheat "Yumechikara". In fiscal 2020, the ninth year of the program, 49 schools across Japan participated in the program, and cultivation of "Yumechikara," wheat sown in autumn, started simultaneously in October!
Each event and support will be online, and educational materials will be available to support your research. We will also post updates on the program on our special blog.
Flow of "Yumechikara" cultivation research
Seeds will be sown from mid-October to early November, and watered and observed until harvest time the following June. The research schools will investigate the effect of the amount of fertilizer on the yield. Free Research Schools will work on their own original research themes under the theme of "Dream Power.
As a new initiative in FY2020, we will also be using the KAKAXI remote field monitoring system to provide you with information on our fields in Yumechi, Hokkaido!
