Asahi Soft Drinks has adopted the slogan "100 Years of Excitement and Smiles" as a promise to our customers, in the hope that they can live to 100 years in life with a healthy mind and body. Under the slogan "100 Years of Excitement and Smiles," Asahi Beverages is focusing on solving social issues related to "health," "environment," and "community co-creation. As part of these activities, we established the Asahi Soft Drinks Award in 2019 to support the challenges of young researchers who are pioneering the future. This year marks the sixth year of the Asahi Soft Drinks Award, and we invite you to join Asahi Soft Drinks employees in creating clues to solving social issues.

Application Requirements
- Junior high school students or high school and college of technology students who apply must apply on their own initiative.
- Have the consent of the parent or guardian or the school to which the student belongs
- Be able to provide information (including contact information) to be included in the application
- It will take place on a weekday in July,The selected team must be able to participate in the award ceremony hosted by Asahi Soft Drinks Co. (The date will be adjusted among the adopted teams. It will be held online.)
- The selected teams must be able to participate in the presentation of results to be held on a Saturday or Sunday in December, hosted by Asahi Soft Drinks Co. (The schedule will be adjusted among the selected teams. Travel expenses for the presentation will be partially subsidized.)
- The research topic must be one that does not involve the use of animals. *Animal studies using mice or rats are assumed. Experiments using organisms (shellfish, fish, amphibians, etc.) that do not fall within the scope of caution of the Animal Welfare Law may be submitted.
- The applicant agrees to allow Asahi Soft Drinks and RIVANES to use his/her information and research results (including personal information such as the applicant's name, age, school affiliation, and photograph) on websites, publications, SNS, and other media operated by Asahi Soft Drinks and RIVANES, regardless of the medium.

This year marks the sixth year of the Science Castle Research Fund Asahi Soft Drinks Award, which was launched in 2019 together with LIVERNESS Co. The company continues to support research by junior and senior high school students with the three keywords of "health," "environment," and "community co-creation.
Delivering excitement and smiles 100 years into the future
Asahi Soft Drinks is the only beverage company in Japan to have three beverage brands that have been around for 100 years: Mitsuyama Sider, Wilkinson, and Calpis R. The company has long been able to bring valuable products to people and society, and has made "100 Years of Excitement and Smiles" its promise to society. We want to be a company that delivers the gift of a smile and a smile. As part of this commitment, we launched the "Science Castle Research Grant Asahi Beverage Prize" in 2019. The award provides an opportunity for junior and senior high school students, who will be responsible for the future, to take the first steps toward becoming researchers, and supports the development of the ability to work independently to solve problems even in an era of rapid change.
Asahi Soft Drinks corporate researchers support research
Once selected for the Asahi Soft Drinks Award, participants will receive monthly online research support from Asahi Soft Drinks researchers. Asahi Beverages employs a wide range of researchers, from beverage R&D to quality control and container design, who provide research advice to junior and senior high school students based on their respective expertise. Last year, while in some cases, the advisors gave the novice researchers basic knowledge about microorganisms and lactic acid bacteria, in many cases, the advisors gave them research ideas, such as how to interpret the results when they differed from the hypothesis. Over the past five years, the Asahi Soft Drinks Award has supported the research of 27 teams of junior and senior high school students. The advisors in charge of this project are passing on the experience, knowledge, and personal thoughts they have cultivated through their research to the next generation and giving back to the world.

The theme for the 2012-04 Asahi Beverage Award is "research and development that will create future excitement and smiles in the areas of 'health,' 'environment,' and 'community co-creation. Mr. Yoshimura, who is in charge of this research fund, says, "In order to bring excitement and smiles to the future, Asahi Beverages considers the three areas of 'health,' 'environment,' and 'community co-creation' to be particularly important areas of activity. For example, the company develops new products that contribute to physical and mental health, develops label-free products that are environmentally friendly, and supports activities to preserve water resources and a children's cafeteria. We are looking forward to seeing the powerful research ideas of junior and senior high school students as we work together to build the future," says Yoshimura. We will continue to support junior and senior high school students who want to "explore what they wonder" and "solve problems in the world" as they take their first steps as researchers and work together to solve social issues and realize a bright future.
