REVANES Corporation is promoting Research Based Education (RBE) to promote research activities among middle and high school students.Science Castle. In the past four years, we have provided a total of more than 600 opportunities for research presentations. In addition, in the Tohoku region,Tohoku Bioeducation ProjectWe have supported research activities by high school students in cooperation with companies, universities, and high schools, such asResearchers who take on the challenges of regional development through cutting-edge science and technology and research results that address local issuesis increasing in the Tohoku region.
To further develop these activities and contribute to the development of the next generation in the region, the event will be held for the first time in the Tohoku region in December 2015,Science Castle 2015 Tohoku ConferenceThe Company conducted the following activities.
This year, the second year of the program, we will continue toResolving issues and utilizing resources related to local communities and industriesWe are looking for research topics on the following subjects. For example, we welcome research on coastal fish farming, environmental cleanup of local lakes and marshes, and research and surveys related to cultivation methods for local specialty products.
This year's event will also feature lectures and workshops by researchers from companies and start-up companies originating from academia. Please join us as a place to present the results of your daily research and club activities and to interact with your peers and university researchers.

USHIO Inc.
PiCOSCOPE is a completely new absorbance spectrophotometer equipped with USHIO's patented technology, and is 1/10 the price and 1/10 the size of conventional instruments. A booth where visitors can experience experiments using this instrument will appear at the Science Castle! You can use this instrument for various researches such as concentration measurement of solution samples, colorimetric experiments, counting microorganisms and cells, and so on. This will surely be helpful in planning future experiments and new research themes. We look forward to your participation.
(Workshop Content)
Let's measure the cell count of microorganisms!
Water quality research experiment! Let's express the results of the pack test in numbers!
Let's measure! Bring Your Own Sample Measurement Session
*Measurement session will be held for those who wish to bring their own samples.
We will be happy to lend you a demo unit on the day of your visit.
What is a "blue shark?"
~The Challenge of Long-Term Breeding of the Most Beautiful Sharks
Sendai Uminomori Aquarium
Sendai Uminomori Aquarium is taking on the challenge of long-term breeding and exhibition of blue sharks, which have rarely been bred in captivity anywhere in the world. The challenge of keeping blue sharks in captivity for long periods of time has been investigated and researched since before the aquarium opened, and efforts have been made to optimize transportation, tank environment, and other aspects of the aquarium. We believe that by keeping and exhibiting blue sharks, we can obtain information useful for resource conservation and the fishing industry, and that the information obtained can be correctly conveyed to as many visitors as possible, thereby raising awareness of the marine nature of Sanriku and other local Tohoku areas, the attractiveness of the species itself, and nature conservation. In this presentation, we will present our efforts for long-term breeding of blue sharks at Sendai Uminomori Aquarium and the results obtained from these efforts.
