バリシップ2023プレイベント「海の課題発見チャレンジ」参加高校生・高専生募集

In this program, participants will be challenged to discover issues in Imabari City, the center of Japan's maritime industry, through workshops and fieldwork to deepen their understanding of the maritime industry, and to develop their own research and development themes to solve those issues. We will provide support not only for the event, but also for research and hypothesis development in order to plan the theme,I want to try problem solving and exploration activities! I am interested in shipbuilding and shipping! We are looking forward to meeting your challenges.

Program Flow

Participants will be divided into three teams (maximum five members per team) with three collective events as milestones. Each team will work on setting issues, formulating hypotheses to solve the issues, and formulating research and development themes.

(2) Fieldwork <Gathering Event

Each team will visit maritime-related companies in Imabari City. Based on the opinions obtained and what they saw in the field, the teams will brush up and dig deeper into the issues and solutions in preparation for the presentation of results.

(3) Presentation of Results <Gathering Event(Held within the "Minato Festival," a project commemorating the 100th anniversary of the opening of Imabari Port)

The three participating teams will give presentations on the issues they have explored in depth through fieldwork and the research and development themes they wish to tackle to solve them.

Science Castle Chugoku-Shikoku Conference @ Okayama*2

Present your research/development theme and plans at a conference for middle and high school students to get advice/feedback on how to proceed with your research/development.

1 Liberace staff and current undergraduate and graduate students act as mentors to support your progress through online interviews and chat tools.

2 Participating teams may participate in the Science Castle Chugoku-Shikoku Tournament (transportation expenses for one representative per team will be subsidized).

High school students, technical college students (junior year and below) Maximum 15 students

The venue of each event will be in Imabari City, Ehime Prefecture, and you will be responsible for your own transportation expenses.

Conditions of Participation

  • High school or technical college students (junior year or younger) participating in the program must apply on their own initiative.
  • Must be able to participate in online interviews. (zoom or Google Meet will be used)
    • There is no fee to use zoom or Google Meet.
    • Please prepare a PC and Internet environment that enables videoconferencing.
  • Ability to use the slack chat system to exchange information with team members and mentors.
    • There is no charge for slack use.
    • Please prepare an e-mail address that you can use. (If you do not have one, we recommend that you obtain a free address such as gmail.)
  • Participants must attend the following events
    • Kick-off event
    • fieldwork
    • presentation of results
  • The consent of the parents or guardians must be obtained for participation in the program.
    • After the decision to participate in the program has been made, an information packet will be distributed to parents/guardians regarding the consent requirements. After reviewing the information, you will be asked to submit a consent form.

This program is also looking for mentors (college of technology students (4th year or above), university students, and graduate students) who can support the activities of the high school and college of technology student teams together with RIVANES.
