Now accepting applications from schools participating in the Myakogusa research project!

2010.05.13
ミヤコグサ研究プロジェクト 参加学校募集中!

LIBANES Corporation will conduct an educational project utilizing the Japanese Experiment Module "Kibo" of the International Space Station. We are looking for schools to participate in this project. We are looking forward to receiving applications from many schools.

1. implementation details

This is a research program for junior high and high schools to investigate the effects in space using seeds (space seeds) that have been stored in Kibo for more than six months and returned with Astronaut Naoko Yamazaki in April 2010. In March, a space education forum will be held to provide an opportunity for students to present and discuss their findings with their peers and experts from around the country.

2. program overview

(i) Conducting Space Seed Awarding Ceremony, Appointment Ceremony, and Experimental Classroom (5)Hours)

Staff from the Miyakogusa Project will visit and conduct an experiment class with young researchers. On the day of the event, there will be a ceremony to award seeds that have gone to space and a ceremony to appoint research teams. In the class, the background of the research, how to grow the seeds, and how to record the results will be introduced in an easy-to-understand manner with experiments.

(2) Plant growth and survey (1)1.5 to 3 monthsMonth 11 per week10 timesObservation for about 2 minutes)

Using an artificial weather station, the plants will be grown and studied for a period of two to three months.

(iii) Reporting (1)Sun)

Each participating school will be asked to compile a brief report on the results of the survey.

4) Participation in Space Education Forum (1)Sun)Optional participation

You will present the results of your research in front of your peers at the Space Education Forum. Expert professors will comment on your presentation, which will lead to your next research theme.
