[Experimental recipe] Comparison method of water holding capacity of soil (Yamanashi Eiwa Junior High School High School).

<Objectives of the experiment

Verify that soil mixed with Lipomyces (soil inhabitant yeast), which produces polysaccharides, has improved water retention and has become a good soil.

<What to prepare

Centrifuge tube: Capacity 50ml, Length 114.7mm, Outer diameter 29mm
*Use only tubes.
Beaker, etc.
Komagome pipette: 10~20mL
Stopwatch

<1>

Drill a hole in the bottom of the tube using a drill or similar tool.
Place a paper disk slightly larger than the hole in the bottom or a round piece of filter paper inside.

<2>

Place equal amounts of the soil examined in each tube.
Place the tube on top of a beaker or other container as shown in the figure below.

<3>

Using a 10~20mL piece pipette, drop the same amount of water into the top of the tube at the same time.
With a stopwatch, measure the time it takes for the water to fall out of the tube.
