The Science Castle Seminar is a place for students and faculty who want to present more advanced research to receive guidance on presentations and seminars that provide tips on how to get started with their research.

Why is it that research always involves presentations? For example, can research be done alone? Finding a place to do research, coming up with a research theme, and getting help for research all require colleagues. So, in order to accelerate our own research, we need to convey the fun of it to others.

When it comes to teaching presentations, we tend to focus on presentation skills such as "speaking loudly," "speaking up front," "easy-to-understand slides," etc. In fact, the fundamental idea required is to be aware of what the presentation is for and to conduct a presentation that fits the occasion.

The presentation will follow the following sequence

(1) Have an objective (think about how you want the other party to act, e.g., advice on research, funding for research)
Know yourself (e.g., what are the characteristics and attractiveness of your research compared to others?)
(e.g., "The other party has no knowledge of your research field, so you need to start from the basics.)

When all of the above is organized, the presentation finally becomes a presentation, and the goal is to elicit action from the other party.

In many research presentations, it is not only ourselves but also others. Thinking about what we want our presentation to be like for them will help us organize, deepen, and make our own research more attractive.

In the skill-up seminar, students organized the above flow by applying it to their own research, and at the end of the seminar, each school gave a 7-minute presentation of their research in the "Presentation Dojo".

I am not used to presenting in public, so I would appreciate any advice on the presentation itself. As a result of having a clear objective, advice was actively given, such as, "I am not used to presenting in front of others, so I would appreciate any advice on the presentation itself.

(1) Science Castle Seminar - Reading papers for high school students

RIVERNESS Corporation has continued to support research activities by junior and senior high school students, starting with "Science Castle," an academic conference for junior and senior high school students that began in 2012. This year, we launched a new project called "Science Castle Seminar" to further accelerate research by junior and senior high school students. Science Castle Seminar provides support for middle and high school students to solve their research issues through various skill improvement seminars, research experience workshops, and individual interviews.

On July 17, the Science Castle Seminar will offer a lecture on "Reading Papers from High School Students". This course will be conducted using the Journal of Emerging Investigators, an open access journal that compiles peer-reviewed papers from middle and high school students.

(2) Consultation Service for Proposal Research

This program is for those who wish to consult on the research they are working on. This is a preliminary meeting to consult with researchers from universities and companies in fields similar to the research you are working on. We will confirm and organize your research background and the content of your consultation.
