The 3rd "someone" Seminar in Science Castle Kanto "Astrobiology - Can living things live in space?
2016.10.29- The "someone" seminar is an event for middle and high school students who love science.
Researchers from various fields are invited each time to talk about their cutting-edge research.
The third "someone" seminar will be held within the Science Castle 2016 Kanto Conference. The theme of this year's seminar is "Space and Life! We will invite researchers who are challenging the questions of the mystery of the birth of life and whether there is life in the universe? We will invite researchers who are challenging the questions of the birth of life and whether there is life in the universe.
The researchers we will be meeting with are
Contract Assistant Professor, Department of Applied Life Sciences, Faculty of Life Sciences, Tokyo University of Pharmacy and Life Science
Dr. Yuko Kawaguchi
The universe is exposed to strong ultraviolet rays and extreme temperatures ranging from -100°C to 100°C. Dr. Kawaguchi has been studying the mysteries of life in such extreme environments. Dr. Kawaguchi, who will give a lecture this time, is studying the mysteries of life that can survive in such extreme environments. Currently, the "Dandelion Project" is underway on the ISS (International Space Station) to collect microorganisms ejected from the earth and dust from space that falls to the earth, and to conduct experiments to expose earth's microorganisms to outer space. Join Dr. Kawaguchi, who is participating in this project, for a trip to the world of "biology x space," where the mysteries of living things are investigated on a cosmic scale!
