Science Castle 2018 Singapore Conference was held on Friday, November 2 and Saturday, November 3, 2018!
2019.02.28On November 2-3, 2018, we held the Science Castle Singapore Congress, a conference for middle and high school students. This was the third time for this international conference, and the number of participating countries and schools increased even more than last year, with approximately 150 participants from five countries (Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Indonesia).
The theme of the conference is "Be a Leader., broaden your knowledge to design future - Expanding Knowledge and Envisioning the Future - ". On November 2 (Friday), 12 oral presentations and 41 poster presentations were given, and on November 3 (Saturday), junior high and high school students from various countries mixed together in a workshop to come up with ideas to solve local problems.
As a result of the judging, the Grand Prize was awarded to a participant from Japan, Ariake High School "Etsu Ariake".The Rolling Habits of Mudskippers - A research project to discover the purpose of this rolling action-.The first prize was awarded to Ayane Tanaka and Miho Tateno for their research on the "Flying Goby Goby Rolling in the Direction of Rolling. It was a wonderful research project in which multiple hypotheses were formulated as to whether there is a regularity in the direction in which flying gobies roll, and the secrets were elucidated using a variety of methods including behavioral analysis and autopsies. The judges and junior and senior high school students from around Asia were drawn to the presentation.
