Report】Science Castle Seminar - Seeds of Research Seminar at Hatsushiba Ritsumeikan High School

2016.07.21
【実施報告】出張サイエンスキャッスルゼミ〜研究の種セミナー@初芝立命館高校

On Thursday, July 21, from 13:00-15:00, an on-site Science Castle Seminar Seeds of Research seminar was held at Hatsushiba Ritsumeikan High School. This project was linked to the Science PR Day held at Hatsushiba Ritsumeikan High School on June 21.

The "Science PR Day" held on June 21 is an advanced science experiment class conducted by researchers. The class has been held for the past five years in order to increase students' interest in science, and to implement their choice of arts and sciences and career options based on their intellectual curiosity.
This year, as a new challenge, we held a "Castle Seminar" after the experiment class to guide students who were interested in science to research on their own subjects.

<Contents.

  1. Let's look back at Science PR Day.
    1. Reflections on the Microbial Screening Laboratory Classroom
    2. Reflections on the Dye-Sensitized Photovoltaic Pond Experimental Classroom
  2. What is research?
  3.  Summarize the results of the experiment
    1. Microorganisms: Screening results are summarized for each sampling location and trends are explored.
    2. Microorganisms: Comparison of halo size
    3. Dye sensitization: Performance comparison of batteries made with each vegetable extracted dye
    4. Dye sensitization: Comparison of battery performance for each color
  4. Let's look for questions (seeds of research)
    1. Identification of questions and what you would like to do next from the results
  5. Future Plans

Five prospective participants in the ongoing study gathered to learn about the concept of the study and how to summarize the results.

RIVERNESS will continue to support junior high and high school students in their interest in research and challenge themselves, not limited to experimental experiences.
