<Methods for reproducing research conditions

In order to do research, you will need a basic set of saltwater fish keeping equipment.

An overflow tank (Note 1), in which breeding and filtration are done in separate tanks, is the best choice, but it is expensive and requires a budget of several hundred thousand yen.
Therefore, Urawa Jitsugyo Gakuen built its own water tank.

<What to prepare

Used water tanks (purchased for a few hundred yen/unit)
Cylindrical trash can (purchased at a 100 yen store)
Pump (as powerful as possible within budget)
Filter material (coarse coral sand)
Tools for making holes, such as a drill

<How to build your own overflow tank

1, Drill many small holes in the bottom of a cylindrical trash can purchased at a 100-yen store.
2,Pon in the trash can is placed in the tank, and the empty space in the tank is covered with filter media.
3,This device is used as a filtration device for an aquarium.
*Mr. Koichi Saito of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Aquaculture provided guidance on how to create the filtration system.

(Note 1) An overflow tank is a system in which an independent filtration tank is installed below the rearing tank, and water pumped from the filtration tank overflows from the upper rearing tank and returns to the lower filtration tank.
