We will experiment to see if the phosphorescent powder glows by shining an incandescent light bulb on it. It does not glow at all.

When you shine a fluorescent light on phosphorescent powder, it glows well. Why does this make a difference? The reason is that the light needed for phosphorescent powder to glow is ultraviolet light. Incandescent bulbs emit only visible light, while fluorescent bulbs emit ultraviolet light in addition to visible light, which makes the phosphorescent powder glow.

If you mix phosphorescent powder with silicone sealant, put it on a pair of cloth gloves and leave them on for a day, you will have glowing gloves, and your hands will glow and float when it is dark. It would be fun to bring them to a haunted house or a Halloween party at night.

Aluminum oxide, commonly known as alumina, is used for crafts. In this case, it is used for comparison and is not necessary if you just want to make gloves that glow.
*Luminescent powder can be purchased on the Internet.
*Because it absorbs ultraviolet rays well, it becomes even brighter when a UV lamp is used.
*Silicone sealant is sold at home improvement stores as an adhesive to prevent house leaks and gaps.
