Research and Development for the Future

Creating new businesses that change the world

Scientific research has the potential to truly change the world. At the Kanto competition, we will create an opportunity for junior and senior high school students to think about their research from the perspective of creating a new world by creating a business out of their research. What kind of world could your research potentially create?

Special Lectures by Company Researchers
Changing the World with Typhoon Power! The Challenge of a Downtown Venture Company
Atsushi Shimizu, Representative Director and CEO, Charenergy Corporation

He will talk about the history of the company from its founding to the present, manufacturing in a town factory, the development of technology in seven different ways, and the future that Charenergy wants to realize, as well as other world-changing research and development that will excite middle and high school students.

After completing a master's degree at the University of Tokyo, he worked as a development engineer for a major electronics manufacturer. After the Great East Japan Earthquake, he invented the "Vertical Axis Magnus Wind Turbine Generator" on his days off and after work, and founded Charenergy Corporation in October 2014. Currently, he is conducting a demonstration experiment of "typhoon power generation" in Nanjo City, Okinawa Prefecture.

Hydrogen Energy Experience Workshop Booth
Experience hydrogen teaching materials developed by school teachers!
Honda Motor Co.

With energy issues becoming a global social issue, we hope that this workshop will help participants understand "hydrogen energy," which is expected to be a next-generation energy source, through experiments and card games, and help them think about how they should embrace it. In the workshop, visitors can experience a learning card game and a hydrogen energy experiment class. At the booth, we will exhibit and demonstrate educational materials for plasma application and hydrogen reduction by copper.

Meet the Researchers "someone" Seminar
Astrobiology - Can living organisms survive in space?
Tokyo University of Pharmacy and Life Sciences Faculty of Life Sciences Department of Applied Life Sciences Contract Assistant Professor Dr. Yuko Kawaguchi

The "someone" seminar is an event for middle and high school students who love science. Researchers from various fields are invited to each seminar to talk about their cutting-edge research. The theme of this year's seminar is "Space and Life! We will invite researchers who are challenging the mystery of the birth of life and the question, "Is there life in the universe? We will invite researchers who are challenging questions such as the mystery of the birth of life and whether there is life in the universe.

The universe is exposed to strong ultraviolet rays and extreme temperatures ranging from -100°C to 100°C. Dr. Kawaguchi has been studying the mysteries of life in such extreme environments. Dr. Kawaguchi, who will give a lecture this time, is studying the mysteries of life that can survive in such extreme environments. Currently, the "Dandelion Project" is underway on the ISS (International Space Station) to collect microorganisms ejected from the earth and dust from space that falls to the earth, and to conduct experiments to expose earth's microorganisms to outer space. Join Dr. Kawaguchi, who is participating in this project, for a trip to the world of "biology x space," where the mysteries of living things are investigated on a cosmic scale!

Workshop for teachers
Subject research start-up training - Algae are a treasure trove of research material! ~ (Japanese only)
LIVERNESS Corporation

RIVERNESS has developed a research-based education (RBE) concept, in which "research" is conducted in schools rather than "hands-on" research, and has developed a research classroom and conducted it with many schools. This time, we would like to share with you the attractiveness of our research project on microalgae, along with specific experimental techniques.

In fact, microalgae is a perfect subject to start a research project. You can conduct sampling in your immediate environment to develop a study with local characteristics, or you can develop your research according to the direction of your students' interests. If you are a teacher who is thinking of starting a research project, please join us.
