10:00-12:30

Highlights★Special lectures by two researchers and oral presentations by 16 junior and senior high school students selected from 271 applications

10:00-10:20 Special Lecture "Research on frog chorus started it all" (Mr. Takeshi Mizumoto, President, HiLable, Inc.)
During his graduate school days, Mr. Mizumoto conducted research on visualizing frog chorus. Now he has applied this technology to develop his own system for quantifying conversations, and has launched a venture company himself, which is used in corporate meetings and school discussions. In her lecture, she will talk about how her research on frog chorus developed and has led her to where she is today.

10:00-10:20 Special Lecture "Investigation of Antimicrobial Action Mimicking Cicada Wings and Toward Social Implementation" (Prof. Ken Ito, Kansai University)
Nanotechnology is invisible to the naked eye, but it has great potential to enrich our lives. Dr. Ito, who leads the world in elucidating the mechanism by which cicada wings exhibit bactericidal activity, will talk about the fascination of nanostructures and his thoughts on research and practical applications.

10:20-12:30 Science Castle Kanto/Kansai Oral Presentations
This year we received 164 entries for the Kanto Conference and 107 for the Kansai Conference. The eight entries that passed the rigorous document review process will each make oral presentations. Five researchers with various backgrounds, including university professors and venture company managers, will be invited as judges to determine the Grand Prize and other prizes.

12:40-15:40

Highlights★Castle's first! Online poster session and presentation of results of middle and high school student participatory projects. Also look out for information on recruitment for the next year!

International Joint Research TSUNAGU Research Project
12:40-13:20 ●Kick-off of the 2nd phase
We will kick off the second phase of the TSUNAGU Research Project in 2021. The themes for the second phase are "Agriculture" and "Energy Harvesting" to make effective use of underutilized energy.
Special Lecture
Dr. Takehito Kato, President, Energy Education, a non-profit organization
Research: Research on printable hybrid power generation sheets (Tochigi Tech Planter(Grand Prize Winner)
[Other] Past research cases, experiments, and research methods related to energy harvesting.

13:40-14:50 ●Presentation (Japan Advanced Institute for Research and Development of Human Resources for Science and Technology Education)
In this Project, teams from four countries (Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines) were divided into subteams under the theme of "soil" and conducted research on (1) soil ecosystems, (2) soil and agricultural crops, (3) soil and environmental development, and (4) soil pollution. Here, each team will present their research results in English.

13:00-17:00 Presentation of Science Castle Research Grant Asahi Beverage Award Results (Asahi Soft Drinks Co., Ltd.)
Asahi Soft Drinks supports junior and senior high school students who take on the challenge of conducting research in the areas of "health," "environment," and "community co-creation" to create excitement and smiles for the future. This year, five projects were selected and our researchers provided research support. At this event, junior high and high school students themselves present the results of their research. We look forward to hearing about their exciting research.

15:40-16:40

Highlights: Seminars and sessions by professors from universities around the country, and a Marine Challenge Program for junior high and high school students.

15:40-16:40 ●Seminar: "Let's envision your future research life with a researcher! (Ritsumeikan University)
[Must be interested in environmental conservation and robotics!
Associate Professor Tomoko Hasegawa, Department of Urban and Environmental Engineering, College of Science and Engineering, Ritsumeikan University

I am working on what I call an "integrated assessment model," in which various factors, from weather to economics, are reproduced in a simulation model to find optimal global warming prevention measures.
Associate Professor Takeshi Kumaki, Department of Electronics and Information Engineering, College of Science and Engineering, Ritsumeikan University
We are working to develop new image display devices and robots with individuality by taking advantage of things that used to be treated as nuisances, such as lighting noise and product variation.

15:40-16:40 ●Special Lecture "Predicting the Future of Health with Big Data! (Prof. Koichi Murashita, Hirosaki University Health Future Innovation Center)
What is the difference between long-lived and short-lived prefectures? This is where the essence of health issues can be found. Hirosaki University is currently collaborating with major corporations such as Kao, Lion, Aeon, and Benesse on a huge project under the banner of "Life Span Revolution" to realize a healthy and long-lived society. The exhibition will introduce cutting-edge research, including the development of artificial intelligence (AI) that predicts diseases based on health big data.

15:40-16:40 ●Special Lecture "History of the Universe Explored by Space Telescope" (Dr. Koji Tsumura, Associate Professor, Tokyo City University)
Dr. Tsumura of Tokyo City University has been involved in astronomical observations using telescopes on NASA's observation rockets and satellites, and was also involved in the asteroid probe "Hayabusa2" which also brought back samples from the asteroid Ryuguu. In this session, Dr. Tsumura will introduce what he has seen from his research and the fascination of space research.

15:40-16:40 ●Marine Challenge Program "Let's find a research theme from 'likes'" (The Nippon Foundation)
The ocean still holds many mysteries and challenges. The Marine Challenge Program supports research related to the ocean, fisheries, and the aquatic environment. Why don't you join researchers of the "sea" and search for the seeds of your research theme from your "love" of the sea?
